MARCUS DE HAAN is a Dutch artist who lives in Florence, Italy where he trained for 3 years and graduated from
the Florence Academy of Art in 2023. After 25 years in corporate advertising and branding, Marcus saw a personal need for change from using visual arts to
evoke a primal need to consume and thereby enslaving individuals and disconnecting them from the natural order. His work aims to inspire and free the human soul from destructive constant cravings and surrender to a balanced palette of colour and natural forms.
Since 2024 he has been working from his studio in the
San Frediano district of Florence. Trained as a classical realist painter, Marcus is taking this background and evolving it into a unique style that creates a world of honesty and hope by entwining reality with dreams expressed in oil on canvas and panel. In his paintings he looks for a connection to the viewer from a vantage point of compassion and care, without judgement.
